greg hoodDr. Greg Hood is a senior research scientist with the Skagit River System Cooperative. His specialties include estuarine ecology and geomorphology. Dr. Hood has worked on the Skagit Delta since 2000 and has been studying Pacific Northwest wetlands from the Columbia River to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta since 1989.

The main focus of his research in the Skagit Delta is the development of predictive models of tidal channel geometry and vegetation distribution in support of estuarine habitat restoration design and planning in the Skagit and across Puget Sound.

  • Founding member of the Skagit Climate Science Consortium
  • Member of a five-person panel, Columbia River Expert Regional Technical Group on Estuary Habitat Actions (ERTG), which advises the National Marine Fisheries Service, US Army Corps of Engineers, and Bonneville Power Authority on federal estuarine habitat actions for salmon recovery in the Columbia River Estuary
  • Member of a five-person panel, Columbia River Estuary Restoration Prioritization Panel, which advises local, non-Federal agencies and the Bonneville Power Authority on habitat restoration planning for salmon recovery in the Columbia River Estuary
  • Advisory board member for the University of Washington Wetland Science and Management Program in Professional and Continuing Education
